Choose an independent support
Put the phone on a flat, stable surface, or on a stand designed to stay put. Do not attach it to the cot and do not place it on the mattress.

Frame the sleeping area, not just the face
From the parent Monitor, check that the sleeping area stays visible and that the image is not spoiled by direct light, a reflection or darkness. Turn on Lumixi's night mode if needed.

Keep the cable and charger away
If the phone needs charging, keep the cable and the adapter out of the sleeping area and entirely out of the baby's reach. No cable should cross the bed, the cot or the way into it.
The check to run before leaving the room
Open Lumixi on the parent Monitor and check the image, the sound and the stability of the phone. Run this check from the place where you will actually use the Monitor: it reveals a framing that is too tight, a reflection, or sound that is too quiet.
The Camera phone is a monitoring aid. It never replaces the presence and supervision of an adult.
Keeping the sleeping space safe
The Lumixi Camera should not change your baby's sleeping environment: keep the bedding clear and follow the safe-sleep guidance that applies to your situation. For general reference, see the NHS safe sleep advice for babies and ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure.
Light, night mode and what Lumixi does not do
Lumixi night mode requests 15 frames per second; results depend on the phone and lighting. It does not add infrared vision and it does not light the room. If the bedroom is too dark, the picture stays dark: a soft night light, out of the baby's reach, helps more than a flash.
Avoid strong backlight (a window behind the cot) and reflections on the Camera phone screen. Check framing from the Monitor, then leave the phone on an independent stand: not on the mattress, not clipped to the cot, not with a cable across the sleeping space.
Two parents who are not in the same room
Camera placement has to work for both household Monitors. If one parent watches from the living room and the other from the kitchen, test picture and sound from both places before the first night. A tight crop on the face leaves the other parent without context; a phone too far from the crib makes sound alerts less useful.
A camera is watched by one Monitor at a time. When the second parent opens the stream, the first no longer has the picture: decide who is “on watch” instead of opening Lumixi on both phones at once. The cable rule does not change: out of the crib, out of reach, never across the sleep space.
